On September 9, Vermont Governor Jim Douglas, Interstate Waste Services' CEO Tony Farina, PPL Renewable Energy' President Paul Champagne and Green Mountain Power's President and CEO Mary Powell broke ground on a new landfill gas to energy project at IWS' Moretown Landfill.  Nearly fifty local and State representatives were on hand to take part in the celebration.

With an anticipated completion date of December 1, 2008, Farina said "When completed our Moretown Landfill project will annually reduce emissions by 6,500 tons of Methane and over 21,000 tons of Carbon, while producing enough energy to power 2,600 Vermont homes.  As the landfill receives additional waste it is our intent to further add energy production thus increasing the number of homes served."

IWS has closed on the acquisition of the commercial and roll off waste service business assets of Golden Sanitation of Lynhurst, New Jersey. FULL STORY
