INTERSTATE WASTE SERVICES IS NEW PROVIDER FOR CHESTER, NY

RAMSEY, NJ February 6, 2012: Interstate Waste Services (IWS), founded on a commitment to provide dependable, high quality, solid waste services and exceptional customer support, recently established a trash collection and recycling program for the Town of Chester, New York, located in Orange County.

The new contract was effective as of January 1, 2012 and includes all 2700 homes located within the town. IWS delivered 5400 trash receptacles (toters) to the residents as part of the service. Each toter is designated for either mixed-solid waste or single stream recycling, both of which are collected weekly at curbside. In addition, customers have bulk collection available from April 1st to November 30th each year, and e-recycling is newly available for residents at the IWS location in Chester.

“IWS is providing Chester with great service and the most competitive pricing in the region,” says Steve Neuhaus, Town Supervisor. “Every household is saving much needed tax dollars at a time when they need it most.”

Interstate Waste Services also provides a centralized Customer Service where residents can speak to trained support staff that will assist them with any questions or concerns. Customers are encouraged to call 1-866-342-5497 Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, or submit questions via the IWS website at www.interstatewaste.com.

“Interstate Waste Services is committed to the quality of the program with the Town of Chester,” says Marisa Ellis, NY Sales Manager of Interstate Waste Services. “We are communicating effectively with the town’s administration, and look forward to a good relationship for years to come.”

Plans are under way to expand the town landfill onto a 13-acre parcel bordering the town’s industrial park off New Ludlow Road, a move that could extend the life of the dump and generate cash for the town.

James Reidy, superintendent of the Department of Public Works, said that Interstate Waste Services of Ramsey, N.J., which operates the landfill, is seeking state permission to expand the dump into adjacent land that South Hadley bought in the mid-1970s. The expansion area is located on the east side of the dump, near the Granby town line.

The expansion proposal could mean an additional seven years of landfill use and push off that expected closing, he said.

Keeping the landfill operating for seven more years, rather than paying to have trash hauled to a private landfill, could save South Hadley taxpayers $700,000, Reidy said. He also said the additional revenue generated by the expansion, from “tipping fees” South Hadley collects from IWS, could add $800,000 to the town’s coffers.

Ramsey, NJ, December 7, 2011: Interstate Waste Services (IWS) recently rolled out a new online billing system, allowing their customers the ability to manage all aspects of their account online. Founded on a commitment to provide dependable, high quality, solid waste services and exceptional customer support, IWS offers this service for free at www.interstatewaste.com.

“We are delighted to be able to provide this feature for our clients,” says Daniel McGowan, Vice President Business Management for Interstate Waste Services. “It will let them save mailing costs and at the same time, alleviate concerns about payments arriving late. According to Javelin Strategy and Research, if every American household used eBills and online bill pay, it could reduce solid waste in U.S. landfills by more than 800,000 tons a year and help curb the release of greenhouse gases by 2.1 million tons. This could also save an estimated 18.5 million trees a year. “

Some of the features include: Online Bill Pay, which allows for one-time credit card payments; Auto Pay, whereby a credit card can be charged automatically during the billing process; and Paperless Invoicing where email notifications are provided when invoices become available online. In addition, the system offers the ability to view invoices, payments, and credits, as well as reprint and email invoices for each account. Scheduled services can be monitored and customer service inquiries can also be handled through the system.

With Christmas less than three months away, some of Santa’s helpers are off to an early start to bring joy to needy children.

Newville has joined with the Western Emergency Management Association to sponsor an aluminum and scrap metal collection to raise funds for Toys-for-Tots. Metal collected will be weighed and sold and the proceeds used to match a $250 donation already given by WEMA.

The money will then be given to the Lewis B. Puller Jr. Detachment 524 Marine Corps League. Local coordinator Bob Gilbert will purchase toys for children of all ages for Christmas or if a family is in need after an emergency.

Interstate Waste Services has donated two 30 cubic yard bins for the collection of aluminum and scrap metal. These have been placed between the borough public works building and the Newville Sewer and Water Authority, both on Cove Avenue.
